Stay Focused

Although self-taping is becoming a dominant form of auditioning, there are still those opportunities where an actor will audition in the room. Commercial auditions are still, typically in person but Film/TV auditions in person are rare. You never know what an audition will fully entail so stay focused and block out any distractions OR embrace them if they are relevant and beneficial to your scene.

REMINDER...prepare your audition multiple ways when you're doing your homework and when you get in the room relax and make some bold choices. The casting director may give you adjustments, but at least they will know you are an actor that can make a choice.

However, there are casting directors who know exactly what they are looking for and only want to see you act their choices. Although this may feel awkward or unrealistic for you, take their direction to the letter and book the job. This may be easier said than done, but keep it in mind. After one receives their driver's license no one actually drives at 10 and 2 or at 9 and 3 like you're supposed to in a driver's test.

Remember you ARE an artist but you are also an instrument in creating a product.
