Theatre or Theater?

As TV & Film actors training and experience is extremely important. If you want to be seen in the "theater", one should have some "theatre" experience. The theatre is the basis of our art. Keeping a performance "fresh" night after night is a true testament of staying in the moment and placing the focus and trust in your scene partner.

Here in Atlanta we have some exemplary theatres.  The most notable are the Fox Theatre and The Alliance Theatre.

Reviewing Backstage.com, we were made aware that the 2014-2015 season auditions for The Alliance Theatre are approaching.

Check them out below:

  1. Fox Theatre hosts only touring companies; it is impossible to get onstage there. Alliance Theatre is do-able but also a bit challenging as they don't 100% hire local folks. There are a plethora of theatres in town both equity and non-equity. I would suggest that those interested in theatre auditions, sign up for the Yahoo Group ATML (Atlanta Theatre Mailing List) and check out regularly the list of auditions at http://www.atlantaperforms.biz/Auditions.html. I would also check out Atlanta Performs partner organizations at http://www.atlantaperforms.biz/Directories/Partner-Members.html. Several of the theatres, like Actor's Express and Georgia Ensemble Theatre accept general submissions. And not all theatre companies are the same; find someone seasoned in ATL theatre to help you discern which ones are worth your time.
